Designing Beautiful (Mobile first) Moodle sites

I have recently been creating some designs for a client, trying to push the limits of what is possible in Moodle.  The prototypes were built in a mobile view first and then expanded to the desktop.

Blocks should be made beautiful or simply hidden. But there's nothing more ugly than Moodle blocks if they are not given any design love.
