Moodle has an extended library of third-party blocks and modules. But there may be a time when you require something a bit more specific, something more bespoke to your organisation.

I can be contracted to create unique blocks/modules for you or even modify the source code of your installation to create the features you so greatly require.

In my current role I use a combination of purpose-built blocks and actual code hacks to make Moodle work exactly the way I need it to work. If I require a way of extracting data for reports that isn’t currently supported then I will write a script to perform this task. If I require administration functions that are not present in Moodle then I can write these also.

More often than not, in my current organisation, users suggest little tweaks that would make their Moodle interaction much easier, sometimes one line of code is all that is needed, other times it may be a complete rewrite of a module.
